In Motion (Sound and Music)

Offered by Sound and Music

About this opportunity

In Motion is less a single grant than eighteen months of structured support for building a body of work: each musician or music creator selected gets an £1,800 bursary just for taking part, plus a production grant of up to £4,000 to spend on an actual project, paired with one-to-one guidance from a dedicated Creative Programme Leader, sessions with an accredited coach, a mentoring budget, group workshops, and two in-person networking days with the rest of the cohort. It's open to UK-based music creators of any genre or discipline and any career stage; what the programme is really looking for is someone self-directed, willing to critically examine their own practice, open to experimenting and taking creative risks, and genuinely able to commit to a year and a half of work. The programme runs in two stages: a six-month Discovery phase for reflection and building relationships, then a twelve-month Activity phase spent making something public-facing, which could be an EP, an installation, an event, an educational resource, or simply a proven concept. To apply you submit information about yourself and your practice, answer the programme's questions in writing, audio or video, and provide two examples of your work; a first round narrows applicants to a longlist of 40, and a second round of interviews narrows that to 18 confirmed places. Applications open 5 October 2026 and close at 23:59 GMT on 2 November 2026; anyone needing a different way to apply can contact the programme by 12 October.
