About this opportunity
This Vienna-based competition runs across nine categories — women's and men's voice, keyboard, strings, winds, percussion, conducting, chamber music and composition — and is open to musicians and composers of any nationality, with no stated age limit. You apply with a video of your performance (a single camera, showing your face and hands throughout) or, for composition, a PDF score plus an MP3, up to 15 minutes long with no minimum length; repertoire is free choice. The application also needs a completed form, a copy of your passport or ID, an English-language biography, a professional photo and proof of payment. Entry fees run from €55 for composers up to €125 for soloists and conductors, with chamber groups paying €65 per musician. There's no cash prize: what you're competing for is a place in the winners' concert. First-prize winners in each category perform live with the Wiener Stadtorchester at the Musikverein in Vienna on 4 January 2027, and every prize-winner — including runners-up and special award recipients such as the Wiener Klassik Prize and Young/Junior Talent prizes — gets a concert invitation, certificate, professional photo shoot and a recording of their performance.
