Aide au parcours d'écriture et de composition – Émergence de carrière

This is money to buy yourself writing time. The French national music centre backs songwriters and composers — including writers of comedy material — who are past the beginner stage but not yet established, so they can step back and concentrate on making new work.

You apply as an individual, not through a company. You need to be affiliated with the CNM, tax-resident in France, and registered under the artiste-auteur social regime. Beyond that the bar is a track record: at least fifteen musical works declared to SACEM or SACD since January 2023 (or works totalling more than 45 minutes, or five comedy works), at least €2,000 in artistic income across 2023–2025, and gross annual income below €50,000 in each of those years. You also need written interest from at least one professional — a label, a licensed promoter, a venue or a festival — saying they would release or present the work.

The award is a flat €10,000, paid 70% on decision and the balance once you file your report, plus a compulsory training course you must complete within eighteen months. Skip the training and the whole €10,000 is cancelled. It can only be won once, and the amount may be trimmed if applications outstrip the budget.

The commission looks at artistic risk-taking, whether the grant genuinely unlocks something, the strength of the professional support around you, and environmental practice. Applications go through the CNM online portal only, in French.
