Who can apply
For auteurs-compositeurs in musiques actuelles (chanson, pop, rock, jazz, world, traditional, electronic, soul, funk, urban, metal, rap). The applicant must be the author-composer whose repertoire makes up the majority of the recording, applying in their own name and vouching for the agreement of any co-authors. It covers only your FIRST, SECOND or THIRD self-produced recording, and you may submit one application per year. The recording must be finished and contain at least 5 tracks; release can be digital, physical or both, and a physical-only release needs at least 250 copies for sale. A professional environment is COMPULSORY: at minimum a publisher, management structure, show producer, booking agent, concert venue or an accredited support scheme, and you must supply a recommendation letter from them. Timing is the trap: you apply AFTER the full release, and only within 6 months of it. Applications are online through your Sacem member space; nothing by post is considered, and incomplete or late files are not examined. The recipient must be the songwriter behind most of the works on the release, and any co-writers need to have agreed to the project. It has to be among that person's first three self-produced releases, and the finished record needs at least five tracks. Applicants must already have some professional support around them — a manager, publisher, live producer, booker, venue, or support programme — and if the release is physical only, at least 250 copies must be set aside for sale. Submission happens through Sacem's online members' portal after the record is out, and no later than six months afterward; the 2026 window runs from 2 February to 30 October. The form needs a one-page bio, a short statement on how the money will be used, and a letter from the professional supporter, plus proof of the mechanical-rights clearance for a physical release. Sacem says it pays particular attention to whether the applicant has a structured development strategy behind the release, so a clear plan for building an audience matters as much as the recording itself.
