Athens Epidaurus Festival 2027 — Open Call

Greece's largest performing-arts festival is choosing what it programmes in 2027, and this is the way in. It is a programming call rather than a grant scheme: you pitch a production, and if it is taken the Festival presents it. Contemporary music, classical music, jazz and other genres each have their own category on the form, alongside theatre, dance and multidisciplinary work, so a concert programme or a music-driven staging is a legitimate proposal rather than an afterthought.

Independent artists, ensembles, companies and cultural organisations can apply, from Greece or abroad. The one hard rule is that the work must not have been presented in Greece before. Venues on offer are the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus and the Peiraios 260 complex, with partner venues such as the Athens Concert Hall and Athens Conservatoire used where a project needs them. The Little Theatre is explicitly aimed at smaller, experimental work on modest budgets, and musical dramaturgies are singled out as welcome there.

No fixed sum is published. Instead you submit a budget covering artistic fees for one to four performances, how many people travel, set-up days and freight, and you must state what other funding or co-production you already have. The rest of the form is a 400-word description, a 200-word note on the creative team, CVs for up to five contributors, and an optional technical rider. Applications close 15 September 2026 at 18:00 Athens time, and the Festival says plainly it will not give feedback on proposals it does not take.
