Electronic Music Award (Help Musicians)

A twelve-month accelerator for people making electronic music in the UK, run with DJ Mag. It pairs up to £3,000 towards a project of your own — an EP, a move into production, whatever the next step looks like — with one-to-one business advice from industry experts, online meet-ups alongside the rest of the cohort, and a one-day peer and industry mixer in London. Every electronic genre is in scope: house, techno, drum and bass, UK garage, bass, amapiano, trance, grime, drill, ambient and newer subgenres.

The eligibility bar is as much financial as artistic. You need to have earned at least 40% of your income from music over the past two years, relaxed to some income if a long-term health condition or disability affects your ability to work. You must be 18 or over, living in the UK with the right to work and a UK bank account, and hold no more than £10,000 in savings or other capital that could fund the activity yourself. You also need genuine control over part of your career — self-managing, self-releasing or self-producing.

The funding is a grant, and the activity has to be delivered within twelve months; you are expected to commit to the programme's dates as well as the money. A limited number of awardees are offered editorial coverage by DJ Mag, opt-in and chosen at the magazine's discretion.
