FACTOR Video

FACTOR's Video program pays toward the visual content that carries a release — a traditional single video, a lyric video or visualiser, a live performance film, an EPK or long-form piece, or something under 90 seconds for social. It covers up to half your eligible budget: a maximum of CAD 20,000 per fiscal year for artists rated Artist 2, CAD 30,000 for Artist 3. Treat it as match funding, since FACTOR plus any other public money cannot exceed the full budget.

You apply as whoever controls the Canadian release and exploitation rights — an unsigned artist (one named band member if the band is not incorporated), or a Canadian label that has signed or licensed the recording. Both an Artist Profile and an Applicant Profile must be approved before you can start. Artists rated General are ineligible, as is anyone already funded for video through Company Envelope, Artist Entrepreneur or an active Juried Sound Recording project, and anything already submitted to Musicaction. The song must have been commercially released within the previous six months, or be an advance single with a confirmed release date inside three months, from an album out in the last 24 months.

The deadline is rolling, but applications must land by 14 January 2027 to count against the current fiscal year, and review takes up to six weeks. You supply a production start date, goals, the song as an MP3 with lyrics, shoot location, a treatment and production plan, a planned release date and an itemised budget. Crew and suppliers must be Canadian. Half the money is advanced on approval; the rest follows a completion report with invoices and a link to the finished video, due six months after your production start date.
