About this opportunity
One thing to establish before anything else: a Dutch musician cannot apply for this directly. The applicant has to be a venue or festival based outside the Netherlands that runs a substantial international programme. For a Dutch act, then, the practical route is to get a foreign promoter interested enough in the booking to put the application in, which makes this a scheme worth knowing about mainly so you can raise it in conversation with programmers abroad.
What it supports is the presentation of Dutch work outside the country: concerts and performances by ensembles, companies and individual performers based in the Netherlands. One application can cover a single concert, several dates by the same act, or a run of performances by different Dutch acts.
The award is worked out from travel and transport costs for the performances involved, and an extra contribution towards fringe activity such as workshops, masterclasses or lectures can be added where it applies. The scheme page lists no maximum figure. A budget of EUR 267,500 per round is shared between this scheme, its inbound equivalent and international co-productions.
Four rounds run each year. Activity cannot start sooner than four months after the deadline you apply to, so bookings need planning a season ahead. Applications go through the fund online portal, which requires a login that can take several days to issue, and draft applications can be emailed in for feedback up to three weeks before a deadline.
Assessors weigh the venue standing internationally, what the presentation means for the act being programmed, its effect on the visibility of Dutch performing arts abroad, and its fit with Dutch international cultural policy. The guidelines document is in Dutch only. Of 64 applications handled in 2025, 55 percent were funded.
