About this opportunity
Llais y Lle 5 is a National Lottery fund from the Arts Council of Wales built around the Welsh language rather than any single art form, so a musician's project is judged on how it uses creativity to put Cymraeg at the centre of a community's life, not on musical merit alone. It pays for the practitioner's working time with that community, planning and reporting hours, travel, venue and equipment hire, materials, and time spent building a network with other creative practitioners; in return, the plan has to run a full 15 months, from April 2027 to June 2028, partner formally with an arts, cultural or language organisation, and treat the community as a genuine co-designer rather than an audience. Anyone applying has to live in Wales and bring real experience of creative community work; you don't need to be a fluent Welsh speaker, but if you're not, you have to show concretely how the work will still happen in Welsh rather than mostly in English. Funding covers up to 90% of costs, capped at £35,000, with the remaining 10% expected as confirmed in-kind support from the community itself, so this isn't fully matched cash funding, but it isn't free money either. Applying means an online form, a budget and letters of support including a signed partnership agreement, due by 1pm on 13 January 2027. Assessors weigh how well the plan serves the fund's language aims, the strength of the partnership and action plan, and how it fits the Council's wider priorities around equality, climate and talent development.
