Montana Arts Council — Strategic Investment Grants (FY2027)

A small, fast-turnaround grant for one specific step forward rather than a whole project. The Montana Arts Council lists what it will pay for: attending a workshop, training, residency or conference; exhibiting at a trade show, gallery showing, festival or other arts event; public outreach and marketing for an event or publication; expanding your online presence or entering a new online marketplace; putting on a performance, public art installation, demonstration or exhibition; and investing in technology or tools that represent a clear professional step up.

Both individual artists and teachers and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisations can apply. As a state agency its remit is Montana, and the current round is labelled FY2027.

Awards are up to USD 1,000 toward expenses connected to the opportunity. The page does not state whether match funding is expected, how the money is paid out, or how competitive the round tends to be; those details, where they exist, are in the guidelines document.

The rhythm is the genuinely useful part. Applications are due on the 15th of every month at 11:59pm, shifting to the next business day when the 15th is a weekend or holiday, and everything goes through the online grant system. Whatever arrives by one deadline is reviewed the following month by a committee that meets monthly, and those meetings are open to the public. In practice that means roughly a month between applying and a decision, which makes this workable for opportunities that appear at short notice.
