Who can apply
Individuals based in the UK who can demonstrate the barriers they face and explain how an award would support their music making; you may also apply on behalf of an individual. The instrument awards are for people living in deprived or marginalised areas, with the domains of deprivation for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland given as a reference. The Learn to Play award is open ONLY to people who took part in a Music for All Learn to Play 2026 session. Applications close Monday 30 November 2026 at 12:00 noon, and a witness statement supporting your application must be submitted separately by Friday 4 December 2026 at 12:00 noon, so line your witness up before the deadline. Applications are only supported from within the UK.
About this opportunity
Music for All is a UK charity whose Individual Awards remove specific, concrete barriers to making music, rather than funding a project or creative work. This round offers two different things: an electro-acoustic or classical guitar, or a standard acoustic guitar (one instrument per applicant; amps, cables and cases aren't included), and a separate Learn to Play Award — a grant of up to £800 to keep going with music after attending a Learn to Play Weekend session in 2026.
You need to be based in the UK, and for the instrument awards and Learn to Play Award, living in an area the UK's own deprivation indices identify as marginalised. The Learn to Play Award specifically requires having attended a 2026 Learn to Play Weekend session already — it isn't open to the general public. You can apply on someone else's behalf if they can't apply themselves.
Applying means filling in one of two separate Submittable forms (one for instruments, one for Learn to Play) explaining the barriers you face and how the award would help, and arranging a witness statement from someone who can vouch for your situation, following separate witness criteria published alongside the form. The charity doesn't publish a scoring system beyond asking you to demonstrate your barriers clearly; detailed criteria sit in a linked document outside the main page. Round 4 applications close on Monday 30 November 2026 at 12:00 noon, with witness statements due by Friday 4 December 2026 at 12:00 noon, and funding isn't backdated to things you've already bought.
