About this opportunity

This is a recording-focused residency run by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee with Fascination Street Studios in Örebro — a well-equipped professional facility with five control rooms and two live rooms — built specifically for musicians who want dedicated studio time rather than a general creative retreat. The stay runs two weeks including travel, with ten studio days, five of them with a house engineer on hand, and on-site accommodation for four people. It's aimed at building international connections on top of the recording itself: applicants bring two Swedish collaborators and one international musician into the project. To qualify, you need to work professionally in music in Sweden or do most of your artistic work there, not be more than half-enrolled in study, carry no debts with Swedish collection authorities, and stay under the EU's €300,000 "aid of minor importance" ceiling over three years. Each participating artist receives 10,000 SEK, with travel, accommodation and studio costs covered separately — Swedish participants get 3,000 SEK toward travel, international participants a distance-adjusted amount. Applying requires at least 20 minutes of recent music as an MP3 (320 kbps or better) and the names of your proposed collaborators; afterward, residents must submit a written report within a month describing what came out of the stay. Selection weighs the artistic quality of the submitted work against the applicant's financial need.
