About this opportunity

Musicaction's international marketing programme helps Canadian francophone artists and their teams build an audience and income outside Canada, covering four kinds of activity: adapting an artist's content and show for a new market with the help of local advisors, showcasing to industry professionals abroad, running a proper tour of at least five dates in twelve days, or promoting a recent release through media and digital campaigns tied to a distribution deal in that territory. It's built for self-producing artists, labels, publishers, managers and tour producers who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents working in francophone content, with an album or EP released, or due within six months, and a distribution agreement already in place; English-language projects are directed to FACTOR instead. Support is non-repayable but capped at 75% of eligible costs, so the applicant covers the rest, with totals reaching $50,000 for artists who already have a partner in the target market, less for pure market exploration, and considerably more — roughly $100,000 to $125,000 — through a small pilot stream aimed at artists with strong momentum and an existing team abroad. Most of the grant is paid at signing, the balance after a final report. Applying means filling in Musicaction's own form, attaching current contracts and tour confirmations, and emailing the complete package; incomplete submissions are returned rather than reviewed. Assessors weigh the size of the target market, the strength of the applicant's professional network there, past results, and how convincing the development plan is.
