About this opportunity

This fund helps recent Brevard Music Center alumni get a professional career off the ground, with grants for three kinds of project: creative work such as performances, recordings or compositions, including the venue hire, recording time, photography and promotion that go with them, professional development like conference fees, private lessons or certifications, and essential equipment or software. It won't cover tuition, hiring staff, or anything spent before the grant is actually paid out. You're eligible if you attended one of Brevard's Core Session programs of three weeks or longer within the last ten years, as an instrumentalist, composer or vocalist — last year's recipients have to sit this round out. The fund has an annual budget of $25,000, split across roughly 10 to 20 grants of $1,000 to $2,500 each, paid in full by check once you're approved, with no match funding required. Applying means submitting, through Brevard's MyBMC portal, a project proposal of 500 to 800 words covering your goals, the impact you expect and a budget breakdown, a résumé that highlights your Brevard connection, and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or working professional. A BMC staff panel then weighs how feasible the project is, its artistic or professional merit, and how well it fits Brevard's mission of excellence in music. Applications close 15 November 2026, with decisions by 15 December and funds disbursed by the end of January 2027.
