Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació, Barcelona's municipal creation factory, is offering free workspace to musicians for 2027. This is space and context rather than money: the call awards the temporary use of rooms in the building at no cost, with residencies running between 12 January and 31 December 2027 and the factory open weekdays from 9am to 10pm and at weekends as well.

There are two tracks. Short residencies of one to three months suit research and experimentation in music or sound, or rehearsing an advanced project before taking it on stage; up to three are awarded. Long residencies of at least a year, extendable by a second, are for artists who want the factory as their working base and will build ties with the other residents; up to eight are awarded.

Individuals, legally constituted organisations and informal groups can apply, minimum age 18. Anyone already resident there for more than five years since July 2021 is excluded. The call mentions no stipend, fee or production budget.

You apply through an online form with a dossier of up to six pages — motivation, description, schedule, objectives, methodology, future prospects — plus a CV of up to three pages. Documentation is accepted in Catalan or Spanish only; anything in another language goes unassessed, and pages beyond the limits are ignored.

Scoring runs to 20 points and you need at least 10 to be considered. Artistic quality and solidity is worth up to 6 and must itself reach 4. Risk and experimentation, new ways of producing and showing work, the education–culture–territory relationship, interdisciplinarity, collaboration networks and viability are worth two each, with a point apiece for gender perspective and intercultural practice.
