About this opportunity

This Swedish Arts Grants Committee residency places a Sweden-based artist in Kreuzberg, Berlin, for roughly four weeks, aimed specifically at electronic pop, house and techno musicians who want to work inside that scene rather than just visit it. The committee provides accommodation and a residency grant, while the artist arranges and covers their own studio or workspace out of the funding — this one leans on Berlin's existing infrastructure rather than providing a dedicated studio. To qualify you need to earn all or part of your living from music, be based in Sweden or do most of your artistic work there, not be more than half-enrolled in study, have no unpaid Swedish tax debts or bankruptcy, and not have received more than €300,000 in EU "de minimis" state aid over the past three years. A four-week stay carries a 50,000 SEK grant, adjusted if the stay runs shorter or longer or includes different support. Applying means submitting at least 20 minutes of current music as an MP3 (320 kbps or higher) that represents your work and repertoire, along with the standard form questions and a residency description written in English for partner review. A jury of working musicians assesses the artistic quality of what you submit alongside your financial need, so this favours artists who are already active in electronic pop but currently under-resourced rather than well-funded.
