About this opportunity

Composers and musicians based in Sweden can use this residency to work alongside Ensemble Kwartludium, a Polish contemporary-music group, in Warsaw and Gdańsk. It's built for people who want to develop new material in direct collaboration with performers rather than working alone. Stays normally run four to eight weeks, matched to what the applicant needs and when the ensemble is free.

Konstnärsnämnden (the Swedish Arts Grants Committee) pays SEK 40,000 for a four-week stay, scaled for longer visits, plus standard travel costs; accommodation and workspace in Poland are arranged through the committee's agreement with the ensemble, so they don't come out of your stipend. The grant itself is tax-exempt.

To apply you need to be a professional musician or composer earning income from your art, based in Sweden or mostly working there, a student no more than half-time, free of debts to Swedish authorities, and under the EU's €300,000 de minimis aid cap over three years. Apply once a year via the "My pages" portal by 14:00 CET on the deadline, with at least 20 minutes of recent music as high-quality MP3s (with metadata) and a written description of your planned stay, in English so the Polish partners can read it. A panel weighs artistic quality against financial need, and also considers spreading grants across different artists and regions. Decisions come in March 2027.
