About this opportunity
An international composition competition run by Ise-Shima Art Company in Japan, for pop, songs, instrumental music, jazz, computer-produced music, Vocaloid, and music for film, video and games. Genre, instrumentation and duration are open. Entries are judged on compositional craft, originality and sound design, and you enter with a link to a recording that the jury can reach without logging in. Entry closes on 31 January 2027 at 23:59 GMT, with results planned for 28 February. The 2026 edition drew 86 works from 73 applicants in 16 countries and regions, and its published results list 44 awarded works: 2 Grand Prizes, 34 Special Prizes and 8 Diplomas of Merit. Composers keep their copyright, but awarded works can be used free of charge to promote the competition, and entrants must clear all permissions with co-writers, performers and labels before applying. Entry fees are not refunded after payment, including for entries found ineligible. Written jury feedback is an optional extra at JPY 5,000 per work and has to be requested at entry. The rules name the jury chair, Sumio Kobayashi, but no other jurors.
