Arts Across Canada and Abroad — Representation and Promotion
Offered by Canada Council for the Arts
Who can apply
Canadian registered or incorporated arts organizations that formally represent Canadian artists (validated portal profile required).
About this opportunity
This one funds the travel, not the music — and it is for the people who represent artists rather than the artists themselves. If you run a management company, an agency, a label, a booking or service organisation, a shared platform or a publisher, this covers the cost of going to meet buyers, presenters and partners in order to build new markets for the Canadian artists you formally represent under contract.
There are two versions. Arts Across Canada covers travel within Canada, which must be at least 300 km from where you set out. Arts Abroad covers travel outside Canada at least 500 km away, and also allows you to bring international buyers to Canada or lead a Canadian delegation abroad. Both let you cover several destinations in one trip, or several trips, in a single application. Both allow you to build on an existing tour if you are an artist's representative.
Only registered or incorporated Canadian arts organisations can apply — individual artists cannot, and your eligibility is set by the profile you have validated in the Council's portal. Create that account and submit profiles at least 30 days before you intend to apply. Organisations already receiving core operating grants can still apply.
Travel is funded up to $30,000, calculated against the Council's published fixed travel rates rather than your actual receipts. You cannot apply for activities that take place before the deadline date, or for anything already funded by another Canada Council programme.
