About this opportunity
This is not an artist grant. It funds the events and infrastructure that many artists benefit from at once: music conferences, showcase productions at export markets, educational and mentorship initiatives, select national award shows, projects that improve the visibility of Canadian music on digital platforms, and Canadian music festivals. Anything that predominantly benefits a single artist or company is out by definition.
Applicants are incorporated companies or not-for-profit organisations that are Canadian-owned and controlled, with an approved profile and three years of financial statements. The project must have been running for two years, or you must show two years of relevant experience. Four components carry different terms: Industry Events covers up to 50% of eligible costs to an annual limit of $200,000; Showcase Production for Export-Ready Artists and Festival Support are also at 50%; Showcase Production for Artists from Official Language Minority Communities is at 75%, capped at $100,000 a year. Anyone who has not been funded under this program before must email a one-page letter of intent first.
Money arrives as a 50% advance once the agreement is signed, with the balance paid after a completion report carrying invoices, receipts and proof of payment. A 15% administration fee on third-party costs is eligible.
Assessors weigh relevance to FACTOR's mandate, the strategic value to the artists involved, whether your organisation can realistically deliver, and budget realism. Added consideration goes to projects promoting new, Indigenous and priority-group Canadian artists.
