About this opportunity

Money to get on the road. This scheme funds concert and touring activity in any genre by professional musicians, artists, ensembles and bands based or mainly working in Norway. Concerts abroad count, but Kulturrådet says plainly that it weights activity inside Norway more heavily. A support team can apply on an artist's behalf provided the artist is involved in writing the application.

Two shapes of support. Project grants cover a specific tour or a year's worth of concerts, including necessary rehearsals, pre-production and related administration, over a maximum of one year, and can be applied for at any of the scheme's three deadlines. Operating grants fund a whole calendar year and are only available at the September deadline; you need an organisation number or a named, separately budgeted activity, plus three years of substantial year-round concert work. Multi-year applications are encouraged.

Composition, recording and release costs, equipment purchases and Den kulturelle skolesekken activity all belong elsewhere. Single concerts, unpaid performances and events with no ticket or fee income are normally refused.

The application needs three to five audio or video files uploaded directly — links to websites are not accepted — plus a specified budget and a list of every concert with date and venue. Not all dates need to be contracted, but explain the basis for the plan. Assessors weigh artistic quality, realism, fees paid at recommended rates, and touring planned with climate impact in mind. Kulturrådet does not fully fund.
