JazzDanmark – Jazzkonkurrencen 2027 (competition)

Jazzkonkurrencen is a development programme built around a touring competition rather than a single audition. Three finalist bands get a genuine run of exposure: a two-day workshop covering PR, the music industry and stage performance, individual coaching that continues through four concerts at well-known Danish jazz venues, and a spot in the final at Huset i Hasserisgade in Aalborg. JazzDanmark covers travel and full catering at the concerts, though bands may need to bring their own backline to some of them, and the run brings airplay on P8 Jazz plus a network of other young jazz musicians.

To enter, most of the band needs to be Danish or living in Denmark, and most members should be 30 or under; the material performed must be mainly original compositions, with no stated limit on band size. You apply with a band description of at least 800 characters, two original tracks, and a line-up listing each member's instrument and year of birth, by November 29, 2026 — expect to hear back in early December.

The eventual winner receives DKK 10,000 toward a project of their choosing, plus a recording session at The Hideout Studio with professional mixing and mastering. JazzDanmark doesn't publish formal judging criteria; the three judges who select and advance bands are the same people who lead the coaching sessions throughout.
