Koda Kultur – Work Grants (deadline 1 Oct 2026, 15:00)

This grant pays for the writing itself, the phase where you are composing, writing songs or working on lyrics, before anything is recorded or released. It covers rhythmic genres broadly. If you write classical score music or sound art, Koda points you to a separate work grant administered by the Danish Composers Society, and if you are a student on a music education you are steered toward the Up and Coming pool instead. The three cannot be applied for at the same time.

You need to be a composer or songwriter who is a member of Koda, and you must be the author of the project yourself. You cannot apply on behalf of anyone else.

Awards start at DKK 12,500 per person, dropping to DKK 5,000 where several band members each apply individually for the same project, and reach DKK 40,000 for work of a comprehensive nature. Only one work grant per calendar year, and you cannot take funding for the same project from two Koda Kultur pools, though separate phases of a project can be funded separately.

The application asks for text of up to 2,000 characters plus a 300-character intro, a CV or short biography as a PDF, three tracks as mp3 or m4a with credits, a note on why you chose them, and lyrics as a PDF where relevant. Deadlines fall twice a year, in March and October, at 3pm. The Autor grants committee assesses everything and replies about two months later, without individual reasons either way.
