Mobility Funding

This pays for getting yourself to another Nordic or Baltic country to work with people there: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Aland. For a musician that usually means a guest performance, a collaboration or writing session with colleagues abroad, a workshop or conference, or research for a project. It does not cover travel within a single country, travel to or from outside the region, tours, or trips that form part of formal study, and it will not pay production costs.

You apply as an individual, not as a band or a company. If four of you are travelling together on the same project, all four submit separate applications. You must be resident in one of the eligible countries, though you do not need to be a citizen, and professional here means documented work experience or training in the field. Students are generally not funded.

The money is a fixed rate rather than a reimbursement of receipts. The application system calculates a travel amount plus a daily allowance from your destination and dates, for stays of up to 14 days, and everyone travelling the same itinerary receives the same sum; a rate calculator is published on the site. Applicants who need personal assistance because of a disability can request a supplement.

The form itself is short, but you must attach an invitation or letter of intent in English from your host stating who is invited and by whom. Assessors weigh the potential for new contacts and cooperation, the quality of your work and your motivation for the trip, and how clearly the journey strengthens Nordic-Baltic exchange. Travel can begin no earlier than eight weeks after the deadline, and decisions take roughly that long.
