About this opportunity

Koda Dramatik funds the music inside staged work — opera, musicals, ballet, revue, and theatre with dance or song. If you are writing, arranging or producing a score for a Danish stage production, this is money towards creating it and getting it performed, including fees for the creators and artists involved. You can also apply for work, travel or study grants tied to a Danish dramatic production.

Any Koda member can apply; you do not have to belong to Koda Dramatik itself. The material should be mostly self-composed, and your own role in the production needs to be clearly defined.

There is no published ceiling. Most awards land between DKK 10,000 and DKK 40,000, though the committee can go higher when a project warrants it, so the advice is to ask for what the work actually costs rather than a round number. Applications open on 1 October and close at 4pm on the last Friday of October, with decisions in December. You submit a finished project description, accounts, bank details and your CPR or CVR number — and once the deadline passes nothing can be corrected.

The committee looks for a serious, realistic and clearly planned project with a credible chance of being completed, a budget that adds up, and evidence that the composer is properly paid — both a commissioning fee and a performance fee. Your audio should reflect your actual musical activity, and you are asked where else you have sought support. If funded, you must credit Koda Dramatik on all materials.
