About this opportunity

NEMO exists to get an early-career artist working with someone across the North Sea. It funds new partnerships between individual artists based in the Nordic countries and partners in the UK or the Republic of Ireland — or the other way round. The collaboration must cross that line; a Nordic artist cannot apply to work with another Nordic partner. Music is one of the eligible artforms.

You apply as an individual, not an organisation or a collective, and must be resident in a Nordic country, the UK or Ireland, in the emerging part of your career. The fund defines that broadly: recently graduated, recently changed direction, kept from your practice by circumstances, or simply never having had a chance to work internationally. You will be asked to explain why you consider yourself emerging, and that answer is assessed. Full-time students cannot apply, nor can anyone NEMO funded in 2025.

The grant is up to DKK 75,000, roughly €10,000, with a further DKK 10,000 available for personal disability access costs on top. Around 33 awards are expected from a pot of about DKK 2.5 million. It covers artist fees for you and your partners, research and critical exchange, mentoring, capacity building, a small pilot for future work, public engagement, travel and accommodation. It does not cover residencies, courses, equipment or touring existing work — and no performance or finished output is required.

You need a CV and a letter or email of invitation from a partner you have already approached.
