Notam — Spatial Audio Residency (Spring 2027)

Notam is offering studio time, and only studio time. If you are building a piece in spatial audio — ambisonics, VBAP, anything immersive — this gives you up to two weeks in its Spatial Audio Studio in Oslo, somewhere between January and April 2027. The exact length depends on the project.

The support is entirely in kind, and Notam is direct about the limits. There is no artist fee, no travel or accommodation money and nothing towards production costs. What you get is free use of the room, an introduction from the studio manager, an optional feedback session with Notam staff, access to the professional community around the centre, and a letter of intent you can take to funders who might cover the rest. That makes it a good fit if your travel and living costs are already handled elsewhere, and a difficult one if they are not.

You are expected to work independently. Beyond that first introduction, Notam assumes you already know your way around immersive audio tools, and it publishes the studio's technical documentation so you can check the room suits your project before applying. Residents are encouraged, though not required, to take part in the community during the stay and to give a short informal presentation of what they have been working on.

The application is a web form: a short bio, a CV and portfolio of no more than five pages with two or three links to relevant work, a description of the project and why this studio in particular, your technical needs, and preferred dates. Applications close 13 August 2026 and Notam replies by 3 September. No assessment criteria are published.
