Signatur – Support for music projects (call May–Sep 2026)

A Swedish foundation funding music and performing arts projects across the Nordic region — Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The 2026 round closes at 15:00 on 3 September and covers projects starting no earlier than 1 March 2027, so this is long-lead planning rather than money for something imminent.

Check the eligibility first, because it rules out most individual musicians. Applicants must be non-profit legal entities working for public benefit; individuals cannot apply. The applying organisation has to take full legal responsibility for the project, including financial management, reporting and communication with the foundation. Signatur does not fund core or ongoing operations, only activity outside an organisation's regular work, and it does not fund purely amateur activity.

What it does fund is work that strengthens music education, widens public access to high-quality music, broadens who takes part in cultural life, or uses the arts to build bridges between communities and cultures. Dance, ballet and theatre projects are also eligible.

Assessment turns on two things: how clearly and effectively the project matches Signatur's criteria and aims, and whether your organisation has the stability, systems and capacity to run it and meet the reporting, financial and communication requirements. Applicants are told within about two months whether they have been rejected or moved to a second stage, with final decisions in January or February.
