Västra Götalandsregionen – Arbetsstipendium (work stipend)

This regional work stipend from Västra Götalandsregionen's Culture Committee supports professional artists across almost every discipline — including music, composition, and sound art — in continuing long-term, innovative creative work, rather than funding a specific project. There are 26 grants of 100,000 SEK each per round, though ten of those are reserved for literary professionals such as authors, translators, editors, and critics, leaving the rest open to musicians and other artists. You need to live and work in Västra Götaland and be professionally active in your field; the stipend can be awarded to the same person up to three times over a career, though the page doesn't set a minimum income, age, or education requirement. Assessment is based on a CV and work samples, though the page doesn't describe an online portal or list every document required — worth confirming directly, given that the application and guidance materials are in Swedish. The 2027 round opens 26 October and closes 30 November, though the page doesn't repeat the year on the deadline itself, while the surrounding text points to 2026. A jury of experts, who serve four-year terms and can't apply for the stipend while serving, reviews applications for artistic production, weighing originality, excellence, and overall quality, and proposes decisions that the Culture Committee formally approves at its June meeting.
