Talent Norge – ArtEx (Artistic Excellence)

ArtEx is Talent Norway's cross-disciplinary programme for performers judged to be at the top of their field and close to a national or international breakthrough. It is not project funding. What you get is a package built around you individually: a mentor, coaching through the programme period, four professional gatherings a year, a place in Olympiatoppen's athlete health services, and access to Talent Norway's network across dance, theatre, music, film and visual art.

The cash element is a scholarship of NOK 50,000 for individual career-development measures — relevant courses, travel to build a network, or professional advice attached to a project you are already working on. How it is spent is decided with your mentor and the programme manager rather than fixed in advance, and no match funding is mentioned.

You need to be a Norwegian citizen or have a genuine connection to Norway: permanent residence, work here, or an affiliation with a Norwegian educational institution. Applicants under 35 are prioritised. The programme is built to run alongside study or work, and taking part in the seminars and sharing knowledge with the rest of the network is a condition, not an option. In past rounds classical musicians have been directed to a separate soloist programme instead, so check which route applies before you spend time on this one.

Applications go through Talent Norway's online portal. Selection rests primarily on artistic level, with a stated aim of roughly even gender balance and a cohort reflecting the wider population. Talent Norway is outside the Public Administration Act, so a rejection cannot be appealed.
