About this opportunity
Amsterdam project space W139 is opening its doors for eight weeks in early 2027, from 26 February to 25 April, to new and in-progress work by artists working in any medium — the call explicitly welcomes sound works and performances alongside installations, screenings and workshops. Each selected project gets a full week in the space, Wednesday to Sunday, or a shorter slot if the work is more time-based, such as a single performance or screening. W139 provides the venue itself, promotional support, documentation of the work, and a contribution toward material costs; there's no fee to apply or take part. It's open to artists, designers, collectives, local initiatives and communities at any stage of their career — selection depends on the project rather than your CV. To apply, you read W139's selection-criteria document first, then submit through the online form on their site. A small team at W139, together with two artists sitting on the selection committee, chooses projects based on how urgent and relevant the work feels right now, whether W139's particular space actually suits it, and what the opportunity would do for the artist. Applications close 7 November 2026, and everyone hears back by 11 December 2026 at the latest.
