Concurso de Música Popyrock 2026

PopyRock has run in Zaragoza since 2006 and is essentially a battle-of-the-bands with real money and real stage time behind it. You enter one original song; twelve acts are picked to play live semi-finals at the El Túnel youth arts centre in November, three reach the final, and the winners get cash plus studio time and a booking on the city's youth programme the following year.

Everyone in the act must be between 14 and 30, and each member must have been born in Aragón, live there, study there or hold a job there. Bands of four or more may carry one member up to 35. Any genre is fine — the rules name rock, pop, indie, rap, techno, metal, electronic, punk, soul, funk and reggae, and instrumental tracks are judged on the same footing as songs with lyrics. You cannot enter if you are signed to a label, though self-released records are fine. Solo entrants must play an instrument or bring a musician; backing tracks alone are not accepted. You also need enough material for a 30-minute set.

The prize pot is €11,600: €3,500, €2,500 and €2,000 for the top three, plus €300–€500 special prizes for best voice, best instrumentalist, best act under 21, and acts who rehearse in council-run rooms. All prizes are taxable and split equally among band members.

Entry is free and online: a form, a short biography, a photo, the audio, and a live video filmed on any device — video quality is explicitly not judged. Selection scores composition (40), performance (25), originality (20) and overall impact (15). Everything is in Spanish.
