Premis Castellitx 2027 – 13è Premi Musical de Composicions per a Banda de Música

This is a composition prize, not a commission or a grant: you send a finished score for concert band, and the best one wins. The award is the Rosa d'Or de la Pau together with €900 in cash. It sits inside the Premis Castellitx, twelve prizes across literature, research, photography, painting, music and film run each year by Algaida town council in Mallorca with the municipal station Titoieta Ràdio, to promote Catalan language and culture. The literary prizes are in their fifty-first year; the band-composition prize is much younger and reaches its thirteenth edition in 2027.

The rules that run across every category matter here. Work must be original and unpublished, must never have been awarded anywhere else in whole or in part, and cannot be entered simultaneously in another competition awaiting a decision. Judging is anonymous, so your name must not appear anywhere on the score. Generative AI may not be used to create the work, in whole or in part, though it is permitted as an auxiliary tool for checking or research. Authors keep their copyright, and unsuccessful entries are deleted after the competition. Winners from the three previous editions cannot enter the same category again.

Registration and submission are online through the competition's own platform, open from 1 October to 31 December 2026. Juries meet between 20 February and 13 March 2027, and the prizes are presented at the Night of Culture on 20 March 2027 in Algaida, broadcast live on Titoieta Ràdio. The rules are published in Catalan, and the instrumentation and length requirements specific to the band prize are set out there rather than in the announcements.
