About this opportunity
Dawson City Music Festival runs two month-long winter residencies in January 2027, one for a songwriter and one for a producer or audio engineer, based at the historic Macaulay House in Dawson City, Yukon. There's no cash stipend; the support is entirely in kind — a private bedroom and shared living space in the house, two on-site studio spaces, access to the professional Goldensides recording studio, use of the Klondike Institute of Art & Culture's equipment and spaces, and transport to and from the airport. It's open to Canadian songwriters and producers or audio engineers aged 19 or older with a professional practice at any career stage and in any genre, including work that doesn't follow a traditional lyric-based songwriting format. You can apply solo or as an existing collaborative pair; solo applicants who are chosen get matched with a resident from the other discipline, so you may end up working alongside someone you haven't met yet. Applying means reading the published guidelines and completing a Google Form; there's no separate audio submission or interview described in the materials, and no published scoring criteria beyond meeting the eligibility bar. The deadline is October 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM Yukon time.
