About this opportunity

Money towards marketing your music abroad — a launch or campaign aimed at a specific country or market, with the stated aim of turning international interest into export income. Eligible costs include buying PR and marketing services from an established third party, content made for one specific campaign (social clips, but not a music video or concert film), market-specific media buys and social campaigns, travel for promo activity that doesn't involve playing shows, and in-house staff time up to 15% of the amount requested. Project development, recording, rent, equipment, subscriptions and the standard release music video are all excluded.

Open to performers, artists, songwriters and composers, and to Norwegian music companies that contractually represent them or hold rights to their work. You need to be a Norwegian citizen or resident and registered in the Norwegian business register. Trade bodies, associations, public agencies and institutions with substantial public operating support can't apply.

This is match funding: Music Norway covers up to 50% of eligible costs, the smallest request is NOK 5,000, and projects are never funded in full. Requests over NOK 100,000 need documented substantial demand in the target market — press, streaming figures, signed deals, touring, sync placements — plus real international partners beyond services you've paid for.

Deadlines fall on 1 March, June, September and December at 23:59, with an answer in roughly three to four weeks. You apply through the portal with a project description, a budget in kroner showing your own investment and any other funding, and a marketing plan; quotes are required for media buys. An external panel weighs concrete plans, goals, partners at home and abroad, international demand, revenue potential, track record and growth potential. A final report is due within two months of the project ending, and you can't apply again until it's filed.
