About this opportunity

If you are making an album in Norway and want the musicians on it paid properly, this is the fund for it. FFUK supports album recordings of at least 25 minutes' playing time. The money is earmarked first for fees to the professional musicians and singers performing on the record, but it can also go toward other costs of the recording itself. Singles, EPs, music videos, film scores, music for stage productions, radio drama and podcasts are all excluded.

The conditions are strict on timing and place. The recording must happen entirely in Norway and must not have started when you apply - if you have already tracked anything you intend to use on the finished release, it is too late. Performers must be professional and resident in Norway; fees for performers living abroad cannot be claimed. Producers, engineers, composers and arrangers are not counted as performing artists, though a producer who also plays can be included if the project description and CV make that clear.

Full funding is not available, so you need other money in the budget. Applications can come from the musicians themselves or from a label, manager or producer acting for them, and if that relationship ends the support follows the performers. Everything must be written in Norwegian, including CVs and budget, with figures in kroner - applications in English, Danish or Swedish are rejected outright. You attach a CV for each performer, a project description covering the material, line-up, studio and what you want the release to do, and a detailed budget running through to finished release, with performer fees broken down by day rate and including expected first-year sales and streaming income.
