About this opportunity
A 200-hour residency in the Tuscan hill town of Suvereto, running from August to December 2026, built around the historical archive of the Ente Musicale e Culturale Filarmonica "G. Puccini" — over a thousand scores, printed and manuscript, recognised as historically significant by Italy's Ministry of Culture. The work combines training, research and workshops aimed at turning archival material into new music, including electronic work, and ends with a public presentation of the pieces produced.
Ten places are open, for wind players, percussionists, lyric singers and composers. You can hold any nationality but must be resident in Italy, be under 35, and hold an AFAM diploma or an equivalent qualification. A stated interest in the relationship between historical sources and new musical languages is part of the brief.
Each selected artist receives a scholarship of up to €800 towards participation costs. That is a contribution rather than a fee, and the call says nothing about travel or accommodation being covered on top of it. There is no application fee.
Applying is unusually light: an email to the Ente's secretariat by 20 August 2026. The published call does not set out selection criteria or a required document list, so it is worth writing to the secretariat before assembling anything. Five named mentors lead the programme, which runs in collaboration with the Conservatorio di Musica "Pietro Mascagni" in Livorno and is funded through the 2025 edition of Per Chi Crea, the Ministry of Culture scheme administered by SIAE. Correspondence is likely to be in Italian.
