About this opportunity

This pays for the trip, not the gig. Fundación SGAE covers travel to a festival, competition, trade fair, market or similar event abroad where you are going to promote your work as a writer — and the rules state plainly that it does not cover musical performances. The event must be in a country other than the one you live in, and the travel has to happen within the 2026 calendar year.

You need to be an SGAE member: an author working mainly as a composer or lyricist, or a member music publisher. Genre is wide open — contemporary and symphonic, pop, rock, jazz, music for screen, electronic, flamenco, world, experimental, hip hop. One travel grant per author or publisher per year, though co-writers of the same work can each apply separately.

The ceiling is 2,000 euros including taxes, and it behaves as a reimbursement. You sign a collaboration agreement and are paid only once you have evidenced the trip, with a short report, an itemised breakdown, receipts, proof of payment and your international return ticket. If the trip falls through, or the event switches to an online format, the right to payment is lost.

Applying means an electronic form plus a CV, a description and timetable of the trip, a detailed budget covering international and local transport, accommodation and meals, and invitation letters or proof of your participation. The process is in Spanish, with the rules also published in Catalan, Basque, Galician and Portuguese. The window runs 24 February to 27 November 2026, assessed in four rounds. Assessors weigh viability against the budget, socio-cultural impact, new and multidisciplinary artistic work, collaboration with other institutions, and the participation of women authors. Decisions cannot be appealed.
