Fundación Alvargonzález – Becas de música en el extranjero (convocatoria anual)

Two grants a year for Spanish musicians who want to go abroad for postgraduate study. This is training funding rather than project funding — it pays towards a course, not a record or a tour — and it points squarely at players and composers coming out of the Spanish conservatory system.

The requirements are narrow and not negotiable. You need Spanish nationality, a Superior Music Studies qualification from a Spanish conservatory, and to be either enrolled in or planning to enrol in postgraduate music study outside Spain. No age limit is mentioned.

Each grant is EUR 3,000, paid in two halves. EUR 1,500 arrives when the grant is awarded and the remaining EUR 1,500 six months later, but only once you have submitted a report on the studies you have been doing. No match funding is required, though EUR 3,000 will not cover a year abroad by itself, so plan around it rather than on it.

There is no application form to fill in. You send a full CV and a letter setting out clearly what you intend to study and where, and stating that you accept the terms, together with your conservatory transcript and your Superior Studies certificate or proof of it. Everything must be in Spanish, and everything must arrive together inside the window — partial submissions are not accepted. Post or email it to the foundation's office in Gijón.

The call opens every June, running from the 1st to the 30th, with awards decided in July. The foundation does not publish assessment criteria, so there is no stated basis on which the two are chosen.
