Iceland Music Fund – Travel Grants

This programme from Iceland Music's export division helps cover travel costs for Icelandic musicians who are touring, showcasing, or otherwise representing their work abroad. It funds concert tours, delegation trips, showcase-festival appearances, music-conference attendance, and premieres of a composer's work performed overseas. It will not pay for travel a promoter or venue has already covered, for trips that already happened, or for recording sessions abroad.

Anyone responsible for a touring act can apply, musician or representing company, as long as they hold an Icelandic civil registration number (kennitala). There's no cap on grants per year, and no minimum number of shows required.

Money is awarded per traveller rather than per project: up to ISK 75,000 for travel within Europe and up to ISK 100,000 further afield, across one to eight people on a single application.

Applying means a detailed online form: an artist bio, links to music and social channels, the reason for travel (for a tour, dates, cities and venues), who else is travelling and why if it's more than the core act, evidence of demand in the target market, an open budget spreadsheet, and disclosure of other funding for the same trip.

Decisions come every two months, with deadlines on the first of February, April, June, August, October and December; a late application simply rolls into the next round. A committee scores on budget realism and need (40%), the strength of the project itself (40%), and the applicant's track record (20%).
