About this opportunity
This is travel and exchange money for individual music professionals working in Sweden: musicians on any instrument (voice and electronics count), composers, conductors, and record producers who earn royalties on their productions.
Two things can be funded. One is going abroad — a concert, a tour, a working stay, an international collaboration, speaking at a conference or leading a workshop, or a self-initiated trip to do research, take a short course, attend a festival or meet potential partners. The other is bringing foreign artists to Sweden for an artist-led exchange such as writing, rehearsing or performing together. It covers travel and living costs, and sometimes transport and participation fees. It does not cover production costs, fees or salary, and it is personal — you apply only for your own expenses. Ensembles of more than two people should go to Kulturrådet instead.
You need to be professionally active, resident in Sweden or working mainly here, enrolled in no more than 50 per cent study when the decision is made, and free of debts referred to the enforcement authority. Applications are accepted continuously and decided four times a year; retroactive support is possible if you applied before travelling. Work samples are compulsory — at least 20 minutes of audio from the last three years — plus an invitation letter if someone abroad has invited you. There is no ceiling, but nothing under SEK 5,000 is awarded. At least two members of the music working group read each application, judging artistic quality alongside financial need. Grants are not taxable.
