About this opportunity

Norway's main pot for putting musicians on stage: a single tour, several tours across a year, or the whole year's concert activity for an established ensemble. All genres. It covers concert and touring costs — fees, travel, accommodation, necessary rehearsals and pre-production, and the administration tied to the concerts. It does not cover composing, recording or releasing, equipment purchases, or, usually, a single one-off concert; Kulturrådet points those to other schemes.

Professional musicians, artists, ensembles, bands and the support staff working on their behalf can apply, provided they are mainly based or working in Norway. Concerts abroad count, but the committee weights activity inside Norway more heavily. Operating support is a higher bar — an organisation number, or a named activity with its own budget inside a larger body, plus at least three years of year-round concert work — and can only be applied for at the September deadline, for up to three years at a time.

No fixed amount is published, and Kulturrådet never funds a project in full, so your financing plan has to show ticket income, other grants and your own contribution. Applications go through the grant portal and require three to five audio or video files uploaded directly (links to websites are not accepted), a specified budget, a concert list with dates and venues, and a list of everyone performing. A CV is optional.

The music committee weighs artistic quality and distinctiveness, whether the scale of activity is reasonable and the plan financially and practically realistic, whether performers are paid at recommended rates, and whether the touring plan accounts for its climate impact.
