Music Finland Export Support (Vientituet)

Music Finland's export support is grant funding for getting Finnish music out into the world: touring and showcases abroad, international marketing of recordings, bringing foreign industry guests to Finland, co-writing trips, a composer travelling to a premiere, and meetings that build an international career. It won't cover recording sessions, competitions, study trips, conferences or anything purely domestic. Two tracks exist: project funding (€500–€15,000) for a single trip or campaign, and strategy funding (€3,000–€40,000) for a broader internationalization plan combining several activities. Either way it's a reimbursement grant paid out after the work is done and reported, and it's capped at half of approved costs — so applicants need to fund the rest themselves, and any income the project earns reduces what Music Finland will pay. Project funding is open to Finnish companies and to individual Finnish citizens or residents; strategy funding is for registered companies and organizations only, and both require a genuine trading history and a clean tax record. Applications go through an online form, with four rounds in 2026 (31 March, 5 May, 30 September, 30 November); Music Finland recommends a conversation before applying if eligibility is unclear. Assessors weigh how central the trip is to the applicant's international career and strategy, their track record and existing international demand, and the professionalism of the plan and partners involved — meeting the bar doesn't guarantee an award, since applications are compared against each other within a limited budget.
