About this opportunity
This is money for working abroad. Music Finland, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, supports gigs and showcases outside Finland, touring, international marketing of a record or a work, co-writing trips, running or attending writing camps, a composer travelling to a foreign premiere, bringing overseas industry guests to Finland, and meeting or negotiation trips that move an international career forward. It will not cover recording sessions abroad, competition or study trips, conferences and trade fairs, anything happening in Finland, or domestic marketing.
Project support is open to Finnish-registered companies and organisations and to individuals who are Finnish citizens or permanent residents. Strategy support, for a broader export plan, is only for companies and organisations with a longer export track record. Either way you need demonstrable international demand — past shows abroad, foreign partners, listeners — plus the ability to invest and a long-term plan.
Project support runs €500–15,000, strategy support €3,000–40,000. Both are capped at half of approved costs and at the project's actual loss, so if income covers most of your expenses the award shrinks accordingly. Crucially it is paid in arrears: you finance the trip, then report within 60 days with accounts or receipts, sign a state aid agreement, and the money follows.
You apply through an online form; the 2026 rounds close on 31 March, 5 May, 30 September and 30 November. Four expert panels — pop and rock, jazz and folk, contemporary and classical, songwriters — assess how much the project matters to your international career, how professional the plan and partners are, your track record and previous support, and de minimis limits. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee funding; applications are ranked against each other.
