About this opportunity

This Danish fund backs work that lives between music and performing arts — music theatre and related forms, where the two elements need each other and neither would stand alone. You can apply for a full project, for touring, for restaging an existing production, or for project development: workshops, laboratories, concept and format work with no requirement to perform publicly or sell tickets. Running costs and individual work grants are not eligible.

Anyone can apply — individuals, groups, ensembles, associations, institutions. The large state theatres cannot apply on their own, and if they take part in a collaboration they must carry at least half the costs. This round covers activity between 1 January 2027 and 31 December 2029, and closes at 14:00 on 20 October 2026.

You apply through the Tilskudsportalen using MitID, attaching a project description (maximum two pages for a single project, with links to audio and video), a budget on the fund's mandatory template, and one-page CVs for the artists involved. Applications missing a required attachment are not assessed. Project development awards are typically capped around DKK 150,000; other amounts are not published.

The Music Theatre Committee decides, weighing artistic quality — a strong original intention, experimental form, clear thinking about audience — alongside realistic planning, collaboration, and how far the work will travel. Awards are often smaller than requested. You hear back within twelve weeks. The guidelines are in Danish.
