Augustinus Fonden — Projekter under fondens musikstrategi (2 Nov 2026 round)
Offered by Augustinus Fonden
Who can apply
Applicants are organisations, not individuals: ensembles, orchestras, music societies, choirs, concert venues, publishers, trade bodies and research institutions. The focus is the professional music scene, though elite amateurs and amateurs working with professionals can be considered. Genre focus is classical music, with jazz, folk and other rhythmic music eligible mainly through larger strategic grants rather than one-off concerts. The foundation does NOT fund individual work grants (arbejdslegater) or artistic preparation time, debut concerts by music students, projects already started or finished, instrument purchase, maintenance or restoration, sound equipment, uniforms, or commercially viable projects and releases. Applications close at 12:00 on the deadline day and decisions take about two months.
About this opportunity
Augustinus Fonden is a private Danish foundation that funds music through four tracks: talent development, festivals and concerts, new musical work, and the underlying infrastructure of music life, things like research, publishing and recordings. Classical music is its clear priority, though jazz, folk and other rhythmic music can qualify, usually through larger strategic projects rather than a single concert. It does not fund individual artists directly: applicants must be an organisation, such as an ensemble, orchestra, choir, venue, publisher, trade body or research institution, holding a Danish business registration (CVR) number. Amateur musicians can be included only if they're working alongside professionals.
The foundation explicitly will not cover individual work grants, artistic preparation time, student debut concerts, projects already finished or already under way, instrument purchase or upkeep, sound equipment, uniforms, or work that's already commercially viable.
There's no published minimum or maximum award. As a benchmark, the foundation distributed roughly DKK 80 million across 319 music projects in 2025, and most individual awards fell in the tens of thousands of kroner, with a handful of multi-year grants reaching into the millions.
Applications go through the foundation's online portal, and the guidelines foundation publishes separate PDFs for general music projects, recordings and festivals, worth reading before applying. This round closes at noon on 2 November 2026, with a decision roughly two months later. Assessment covers strategic fit, artistic quality, the professional context, audience reach, the budget, and geography, with extra rules for grants toward buying grand pianos.
