Cultural Activity Funds (Denmark) – autumn deadline

Denmark's fund for international cultural collaboration is run jointly by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For a music organisation it pays for taking Danish artists abroad: transport, travel and accommodation, and the targeted communication and marketing around the activity. Showcase festivals with live participation are named in the guidelines, along with professional conferences and visiting programmes where Danish repertoire is placed in front of international programmers.

Applications come from Danish cultural institutions and organisations that work professionally in art and culture - this is not a scheme individual musicians apply to. Danish missions abroad can apply with international partners, and foreign missions in Denmark can apply for visiting programmes. A real international partner is required: the project must happen abroad, be built on mutual interest, and cannot start before the application deadline.

The minimum request is DKK 20,000, and the fund expects at least 25% co-financing from your own resources, your partners or other funders. Meals, venue hire and production costs are supported only to a limited extent, travel must follow Danish state allowance rates, and film and media production, sport, food and purely commercial sales activity are all excluded.

You apply through the Grant Portal using the agency's own project-description and budget templates, plus a short CV for each participant and, optionally, a statement of interest from a Danish mission - prior dialogue with the relevant embassy is expected. Applications missing required material are not processed.

Assessors weigh professional quality, genuine two-way partnership, networks that outlast the single event, communication potential, and how clearly the project serves cultural diplomacy or Danish cultural export. Replies arrive within eight weeks of the deadline.
