About this opportunity
This stipend pays for developing your own performing practice: not for making a record or writing new material, but for the kind of deep study you never get around to while you are working. FFUK asks you to set a goal for your artistic development and explain how you will reach it, whether that means lessons with a particular teacher, time with an institution, or immersion in a technique or repertoire. Activities that generate income in themselves are lower priority; the fund wants to pay for work you could not otherwise justify.
You must be a professional freelance performing artist living and mainly working in Norway, and you must have been working at that level for the past three years, evidenced by a CV. Composers, choreographers and other primarily creative artists are excluded, as are students, teachers, anyone in a permanent post over 50 per cent, and anyone who received the stipend in 2025. Creative work such as composing or producing cannot be funded here.
The amount is fixed at NOK 100,000 and up to 80 are awarded in 2026. It is taxable income, paid in two halves: one when your activities begin, one when they finish. It must be used between 1 October 2026 and 1 November 2027, on roughly three months of work spread across that window.
Applying means the online portal plus two required attachments: an up-to-date CV, and a description of your plan, maximum one page. The site and forms are in Norwegian.
