IX Certamen de Jóvenes Cantautores y Cantautoras Ciudad de Xàtiva «MiL Descobreix 2026»

A songwriting competition run by Xàtiva town council in Valencia province, now in its ninth year. It exists to give emerging singer-songwriters a properly staged first performance and some visibility, rather than to fund a project.

You need to be between 14 and 35, with no album released and no recording contract in force. You submit two original, previously unreleased songs, filmed on video with live sound and performed by no more than three musicians. Covers and playback are not accepted. Songs may be in any language, though the prize structure gives Catalan its own category.

The jury selects five finalists — three singing in Catalan, two in other languages — plus two reserves. Finalists perform live at the CCX Centre Cultural Xàtiva in November.

The prize fund is €2,700 in cash. The Premi Al Vent for the best song in Catalan and the Premi Veles e Vents for the best song in another language are worth €1,000 each. There is also an audience prize of €300, and €200 each for best lyrics and best music. The announcement mentions no entry fee, and no travel or accommodation support.

Applications go exclusively through the council's electronic administration portal, using the procedure set up for the contest, and close on 30 September 2026. The portal and the rules are in Catalan and Spanish, so expect to work in one of those languages. Beyond the language split and the number of finalists, the announcement publishes no assessment criteria; the full rules sit on the council and Gran Teatre websites.
