Koda Kultur – Recording/Release Grant (udgivelsespuljen)

Money towards getting new music out into the world: recording, mixing and mastering, studio hire, musicians' and producers' fees, and the cost of pressing physical copies. Digital releases count too. The point is your own new work — material that has not been published before the deadline, and that is not already being funded through a music publisher.

You need to be a Koda member — a composer or songwriter — to apply. A manager can apply on your behalf with a current power of attorney, but that document cannot be reused for a later deadline or for another Koda pool, and applications without a valid one may be rejected outright. A manager is capped at ten applications per round.

Awards generally land between DKK 10,000 and 50,000, and this is a deficit guarantee rather than cash up front: you are paid once you submit accounts for the expenses, credit Koda Kultur, and show the release is actually out and publicly available, within twelve months of the commitment.

The application asks for a short, concrete project description — what is being released, by whom, when, who it is aimed at, what you have released before — plus at least two MP3s in priority order, a budget, a timetable, and a score or lyrics where notation or text carries the work. A CV, a streaming link and a detailed budget are optional. The plan has to be realistic: studio or release agreements should already be in place. A three-person committee decides, and replies come roughly three months after the deadline with no individual feedback on rejections.
