Kordelin Foundation – Arts grants (application period 15–31 Aug 2026)

Check the year before you plan anything. The Kordelin Foundation alternates artistic fields: in even years the August round funds literature and the performing arts, and in odd years it funds visual arts, music, and architecture and applied arts. The 2026 round therefore has no music pool — music comes round again in 2027 — though a cross-disciplinary project that sits mainly in the performing arts can be entered in that pool.

Applicants must be Finnish citizens or individuals working in Finland, or registered collectives holding a Finnish business ID. An individual working grant is €45,000 and covers twelve to eighteen months of full-time work; it can include materials and bought-in services as well as living costs, and it pays pension, accident and life insurance. Collectives can request €50,000 to €100,000 for projects of up to 24 months. You may hold a full working grant while employed part-time up to 50%.

The window is 15 to 31 August, closing at 4pm Finnish time, through the foundation's online service with bank or mobile identification. Alongside a CV and a work plan of no more than five pages, the foundation requires written proof that a partner — a producer, venue or publisher — has confirmed interest in the project. That requirement catches people out and cannot be skipped. Assessors look at what the work will actually produce, who the audience is and how you will reach them, and how the project stretches you or renews the field. Decisions arrive in November.
